Gastric carcinoma has a high incidence, accounting for approximately 6% of all cancers worldwide. The in vivo antitumor effect sodium selenite on gastric been demonstrated. This study therefore aimed to further explore its targets cancer vitro and elucidate mechanism action. effects inorganic (Na2SeO3) apoptosis, proliferation, invasion cells were investigated, the interaction between Na2SeO3 expression long noncoding RNA homeobox B cluster antisense 1 (HOXB-AS1) was investigated specific action selenium cell proliferation through regulation HOXB-AS1. downregulated HOXB-AS1 human (HGC) lines, HGC-27, NCI-N87, KATO III cells, while inhibiting their inducing apoptosis. upregulation produced opposite results. used stimulate HGC-27 which caused overexpression. counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay revealed decrease western blotting, flow cytometry, transwell migration assays showed apoptosis-related (Bad, Bcl-2, cleaved-caspase-3) invasion-related (MMP2, E-cadherin, N-cadherin) proteins, indicating increased apoptosis decreased invasion. We conclude that inhibits malignant progression by downregulating thus could be as potential drug treatment.
